Sheikh Mohammed Hussien Al-Amoudi
Center of Excellence in
Breast Cancer at King
Abdulaziz University launches
a new campaign of its kind on the
month of October 2011 a
Breast Cancer Awareness
Campaign which is different in
content as it does not address women
such as all the campaigns in the
past but aimed at men, wherever,
says Dr. Samia Al-Amoudi the CEO of
the Center “We have several
campaigns in the past, such as the
campaign on Break the Silence that
started on talking about I had
breast cancer in April 2006, to talk
about the disease that is considered
by the community a deadly disease is
difficult for several reasons.
So that the name
of cancer will not be uttered by
one, but they call that the disease,
and followed by a campaign to
sensitize women on
the importance of self-breast
examination to do it regularly for
young women from the age of 20 and
for those who are above 35 and then
a campaign aimed to increase
awareness on the importance of the
doctors role in the examination of
breast and to encourage women to the
periodic examination Mammogram
campaign, tape syphilis and aims to
raise the awareness of the new
generation of working ladies as this
to build a new generation of new
health concepts and then a special
campaign addressed for the deaf &
mute, a book in the sign language.
And now this campaign is the first
of its kind that targets the men as
partners in the fight against this
disease and to spread the awareness
which will in turn, start early
examination of tumors, where some
ladies refuse to do Mammogram
because of fear to know the result
and that it deprives her husband
because of the illness (he might
look for another wife).
Therefore, to educate the
men and the importance of early
detection for his mother, his wife
and his family is important.
It is very
important for the men to show its
support to carry out these tests and
encourage them to do early screening
whether for the daughter or spouse
as well as to accompany her to go to
the doctor and consequently a major
role in this to ensure that the man
is a partner in the crisis, and that
the cancer is a disease of family.
It is not only the individual
who is affected by the disease but
the whole family in one way or
another. The men
should show his support through
these psychological pressures,
assumed new responsibilities,
financial burdens on treatment costs
which become a priority list in the
budget. He is a
man even though he did not have
enough awareness and familiarity
with the disease will be able to
play its role in the development or
the activation of any decision in
this regard.
Finally, simple fact that man can
also have breast cancer, but this is
a rare case of one percent but is
also subject to the disease and must
need to know about the disease.
Hence it is
clear that the man has a key role in
the fight against breast cancer and
this campaign aims to highlight and
focus on men, wherever, and at any
place”.
